The Literary Others: Giovanni’s Room giveaway (October 3 – October 8)

Roof Beam Reader‘s The Literary Others October event has started. (You can still sign up here and the Master Post is here!) And I am excited to announce that I will be hosting a giveaway!

I will be giving away three copies of James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room (this edition is part of Penguin’s ‘Great Loves’ series). I have picked this book because Adam over at Roof Beam Reader highly recommends it. And I absolutely agree with Adam! I only recently began reading it myself (slightly ahead of the event) and it really leaves an impression. Moreover, I noticed quite a number of people participating in the event have shown an interest in reading it.

Everyone participating in The Literary Others event can enter. I am willing to ship anywhere in the world, so there are no restrictions on your location.

The rules:

  1. You must be over 13 years of age.
  2. One entry form per person.
  3. You can earn extra entries by (see form):
    – Recommending an LGBT (themed) book in the comments of this blog post.
    – Subscribing to this blog.
    – Tweeting about the event.
    – Tweeting about this giveaway.
  4. Winners must respond to my e-mail within 48 hours.

[edit] Entries are closed. Winners will receive notice later today (October 9th)!
Giveaway will take place October 3 – October 8.

  1. Beautiful editions! I’ve never heard of these Great Loves editions….will have to look them up. Thanks so much for participating and for volunteering to host a giveaway! This is one of my favorites. I also recommend Maurice by E.M. Forster.

    1. I hadn’t heard of this series either until my local bookstore started selling them. They really are quit nice 🙂
And you’re welcome! I’m really happy I could host it 😀 Also thanks for the recommendation!

    1. I don’t know how To Kill a Mockingbird works as an LGBT novel. It was in Publishing Triangle’s Top 100 list of gay and lesbian novels… but I think it’s a rather big stretch.

  2. Great giveaway! I’ll be reading By Nightfall by Michael Cunningham for the LGBT event. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s an award winner so I have high hopes that I’ll be able to recommend it!

    1. Thanks for the recommendation! There are so many interesting LGBT (themed) books out there. Thankfully we’re not restricted just to the event to read them haha.

  3. This year, one of my new loves if Gemma Files and her Hexslinger series (I’ve read the first two). Excellent book on many points (1800s western with witchcraft and dead Aztec deities coming back to rule).

I’m a new follower via RSS (nrlymrtl at gmail dot com)

  4. My favorites are Mrs. Stevens hears the Mermaids by May Sarton and Remember the Tarantella by Finola Moorhead. And I’d like to be entered in the giveaway.
