Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday This week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR. My TBR pile is technically not a TBR pile but a physical-books-on-my-shelf-that-I-still-have-to-read list (versus a want-to-read list of books I want to read but don’t own yet). So I’ll limit myself to my version of the TBR (which, by the way, can be found here).

I added a bunch of books to my TBR after a shopping spree in London last December, and there are a few books I got for Christmas (or bought as a Christmas present to myself).

Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR

  1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling & illustrated by Jim Kay
This book is so so gorgeous, and I can’t wait to read it (Harry Potter reread #3425). I am saving this for a special occasion.
  2. The Secrets of the Wild Wood (The Letter for the King, #2) by Tonke Dragt
I love love love The Letter for the King, which I read last year. I put this on my Christmas wishlist but Santa didn’t deliver 😉 so I bought it myself in January.
  3. Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3) by Robert Galbraith
I got The Silkworm and Career of Evil for Christmas, and started reading the first one almost right away. I loved it (much more than the first volume) and I can’t wait to start on this one!
  4. Half the Day is Night by Maureen F. McHugh
This one I bought back in August, actually. You all know how much I love China Mountain Zhang. This doesn’t get the same high ratings as China Mountain Zhang though, but I’m looking forward to reading it.
  5. The Color Purple by Alice Walker
This had been on my wishlist for a while, and I was happy to find it on sale in London.
  6. The Teahouse Fire by Ellis Avery
Another book that had been on my wishlist for a while and that I found in London. I’m looking forward to reading it!
  7. Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman
    A Christmas gift!
  8. Hyperion by Dan Simmons
This was dumped on our local book dump table, along with volume two. One of my colleagues / fellow book club members found it and insisted I take it home.
  9. The Whisperer in Darkness by H.P. Lovecraft
A random buy from London. It was cheap, and I am embarrassed to say I still haven’t read any Lovecraft, so it came home with me.
  10. A Riot of Goldfish by Kanoko Okamoto
I’m always on the look out for Japanese literature. Another London find!
