Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I Am Bringing With Me On My Trip

Top Ten Tuesday This week’s TTT is actually Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer. I will actually be leaving on a vacation to the US verrrry soon, so making this list was a lot of fun (even though it’s not a beach holiday and there are no beach bags involved). I spend some time preparing my Kindle and these are the books I hope to read during my trip!

Ten Books I Plan To Have In My (Beach) Bag This Summer

  1. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Just a few weeks ago this book was on my list of books on my shelf that I will probably never read… and now I just can’t wait to get started haha.
  2. Battle Royale by Takami Koushun
This book has been on my TBR for such a long time it’s getting embarrassing. It’s also on my TBR Pile Challenge list.
  3. The Summer I Wasn’t Me by Jessica Verdi
This has been on my TBR for over a year now, since last year’s LGBT Month reading event. It was getting so many good reviews back then that I added it to my TBR right away. Time to finally read it…
  4. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Miraculously (since I didn’t believe I’d ever read them) these books survived The Great Purge. Watching the frustration about the TV series by people who have read the books, I think it’s time I start. Or rather, continue, since once upon a time I actually started reading the first book…
  5. The Stories of Ibis by Hiroshi Yamamoto
I have a thing for Japanese sci-fi. Also, it’s ridiculous that I keep telling people about this book (and Angélique over at Maple Books loved it so I can’t stay behind!)
  6. Affinity by Sarah Waters
Another book that’s on my TBR Pile Challenge list 🙂
  7. The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
And another one for the TBR Pile Challenge!
  8. ICO: Castle in the Mist by Miyuki Miyabe
I still haven’t read anything by Miyabe. It’s about time!
  9. The Machine Stops by E.M. Forster
I only recently added this to my TBR after reading about it in the Queereaders GR group 🙂

I doubt I’ll get around to reading all of them, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up picking up an entirely different book. I’m looking forward to it!

  1. The Stories of Ibis are AWESOME!!!! What, you know it already? :))
I also read and liked The Summer I Wasn’t Me. I don’t think it will blow your mind, but it’s a nice relaxing read, though at times infuriating (for good reasons), and also an eye-opener about conversion camps in the US (which are progressively banned in the US, I believe).
Now I’m checking the books I don’t know on your list :))) Slaughterhouse-Five
by Kurt Vonnegut looks like a really good book!
Angélique recently posted… Review: Station Eleven by Emily St. John MandelMy Profile

  2. I’ve not read any of these, so my comment is pretty pointless. Most Sarah Waters books are awesome though, so I hope you enjoy Affinity. Have a lovely holiday – I hope you get all of your reading done!
    Beth x
