Top Ten Tuesday: Five Books I’d Give To Readers Who Have Never Read Murakami

Top Ten Tuesday I love Murakami and while I haven’t yet read all of his works, I love making other people read him.

So here’s the thing with Murakami. You can read him in so many different ways. If I could go back in time and read Murakami for the first time knowing what I know now, I’d read his books chronologically by publication date. Actually, I might still do that one day…

But anyway, my list here is set up differently. I’ve ordered it by ‘best introduction to Murakami’. And only five books (although he has written plenty!)

Five Books I’d Give To Readers Who Have Never Read Murakami

  1. Kafka on the Shore
  2. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

  1. Haha, I have read Kafka on the Shore, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and A Wild Sheep Chase (and DNFd Sputnik Sweetheart) but none of them really WORKED for me. If he wasn’t a Japanese author that so many people loves I’d have long given up on him buuut I just can’t… I keep hoping that the next book (Norwegian Wood?) will be IT. Sooo yeah, wish me luck with Norwegian Wood!!

Btw, that cat!! So black! So cute~

    1. I get you! I think Murakami either REALLY works for people or just… really doesn’t. I’m surprised you DNF’d Sputnik Sweetheart though! From the list on your blog I figured that might be one you’d like. But anyway, I do recommend giving Norwegian Wood a try 🙂 It’s very different from his other works. *fingers crossed* (but if you like that and not the rest, you should probably give up on him after that lol)
