Top Ten Tuesday: Blogging and Bookish Confessions

Top Ten Tuesday Hahaha this week’s prompt… I am embarrassed already XD Top Ten Blogging Confessions, oh dear… In reality this’ll be a mix of blogging and bookish confessions!

Ten Blogging & Bookish Confessions

  1. Bloggers who never reply to comments annoy me to no ends. There, I said it. I understand if you get hundreds of comments, but if you get 5 or 6, why not reply? Fine if you’re not replying to every single comment, but just showing your face in the comments once in a while shows that you care about your readers. Otherwise what is the point of blogging? I admit, I am not the quickest to reply to comments, but I make it a point to try.
  2. I don’t always have confidence in my blogging. Sometimes I can’t think of anything to post, or then I post something I think is clever but apparently isn’t lol. Alas. Even now I’m still figuring things out (and enjoying every moment of it).
  3. My TBR pile is huge and never-ending and it’s getting embarrassing and I know I’ll never catch up and I absolutely have zero self-control pleasesendhelp.
  4. … and many of my books are bought on The Book Depository (and formerly on Amazon, when they still had free shipping). I want to buy more local – I really am trying – but English books are just so disproportionally expensive sometimes.
  5. Series are my nemesis because not only does it usually take me forever (years..) to finish them (I can rarely read several volumes in a row), but I also tend to just buy the whole series at once and then sometimes I find out I don’t really like the books 😐 Bad book buying habit…
  6. I am addicted to challenges. Which is pretty much the sole purpose this blog even exists I suppose.
  7. When I’ve seen the movie, I won’t read the book. Usually, at least. When I’ve seen a movie first – often when I don’t even realise it’s a book adaptation – I simply don’t feel like reading the book afterwards. Because I’m lazy. There have been exceptions but I can’t think of them right now.
  8. I rarely accept ARCs and the ARCs I request from Netgalley I select with care. There’s so many books I still want to read on my own shelves…
  9. Sometimes I get into these moods and I completely ignore the existence of the internet. And then I get behind on reading blogs and social media, replying to comments on my own blog, and generally making sure people know I’m alive.
  10. I cherish my followers. I am so grateful I have some amazing followers who loyally visit, I love you all!! And I also love it when I see an unfamiliar name show up in the comments 😀 New visitors, be welcome!

  1. Ahhh I used to buy whole series too, and then realized I didn’t like book 1 at all, or very little. So now I stopped that. And I also ditched all bks 2, 3 etc. from Goodreads (went from 5k books to 3k for that!).
I don’t always reply on all comments on the blog, but I do some, and I check out every comment I get, so I know what’s going on and can also come back. 🙂 Sometimes you just don’t know what to say. I used to say TY to anyone commenting but it takes a lot of time…
My TBR is endless too and so it doesn’t help much that I request a lot! I banned myself from NetGalley to clean up my shelves, I hope I make it until the end of summer or so. 🙂

    1. You are wise. I have to change my habits when it comes to series. I never really add 2nd or 3rd books in a series to GR so at least that helps. (Although just last weekend I bought a book and it sounded great and it didn’t mention anywhere that it was a book 3 in a series, and then I got home and added it to GR and.. ugh).

You are good at replying, trust me! No need to reply to everything, and some comments aren’t ‘reply-able’, but at least you’re there.

  2. I can totally identify with numbers 2, 5, and 7! I actually go scouring the internet to come up with ideas for the future when I feel like there’s no way I can possibly think of THAT many things to talk about! The only series I’ve ever read all the way through at once was Harry Potter and that was a complete surprise to me! I’ve been trying to read The Wheel of Time series for about twelve years… I’m on book 5. Mostly because I keep starting over because I wait so long in between that I forget things. And I always, always TRY to read the book first! Recent book-to-movie films I’ve seen are Ender’s Game and The Fault in Our Stars. I haven’t read either and I probably won’t now. I don’t want to ruin it for myself.

    Here are my Confessions!

    1. Haha I’ve got a million half-finished drafts XD And I do like to be inspired by other blogs (book blogs or otherwise) 🙂
12 years! I’m not doing so bad after all 😉

I definitely try to read books first unless I seriously don’t care about the topic (some themes are to me boring as books, but great as movies) 🙂 I don’t know if I’d call it spoiling, to read the book after the movie (no actually, I do think it’s spoiling). But I just don’t have the patience to read something I’ve already seen…

  3. Yes, amen to #1! If you don’t reply to comments, I don’t follow your blog. There are so many out there that I’d much rather spend the time reading someone who’s going to interact.

    1. Yessss exactly!
Honestly I don’t understand how some blogs got so popular if they never interact with readers… Isn’t interaction the point of a blog? (versus a website)

  4. +JMJ+

I’m with you on #1 as well! (It was among my own “confessions”!) To me, it’s like inviting people to a party at your house and then completely ignoring them. I wonder why those bloggers just don’t disable comments.
