Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

Top Ten Tuesday I love this week’s Top Ten Tuesday because I secretly loooove bucket lists. Have you ever heard of the 101 in 1001 bucket list? I’ve been making one of those for years too 😉

Anyway. This week:

Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

(But it will actually be a top 5 list…)

  1. Read 52 books a year.
This is the third year I’ve set myself this goal and I will probably keep doing this every year.
  2. Read one book in every language I’m not 100% comfortable reading in.
Dutch is my native language, and English is clearly not a problem either. But I also want to try reading books in Japanese (have done this before, not super comfortable), German (shouldn’t be a huge problem), and Mandarin (this is going to be a children’s book haha).
  3. Build a library.
I have a spare bedroom and it has some book shelves in it… but my silly dream is to turn it into a proper home library!
  4. Read everything (that has been translated) by Haruki Murakami
I’m a huge fan of Murakami, so I’m slowly reading my way through all works available in Dutch/English. After that I might move on to more Japanese…
  5. Keep up my book buying ban.
I’m proud to announce I haven’t bought a book in three weeks! Not for myself, at least, haha. I want to keep this up until the large book market in Deventer on August 3rd…

  1. This is a good list – I wish I could read in more than one language. I am trying to get some of my Spanish back from high school and improve, It would be fun to read Harry Potter in Spanish. I also need to read all of Murakami’s books. I am such a big fan, but have only read four.

    1. Spanish, awesome! Good luck 🙂 I think reading books is a great way to gain back a language (they say with just three books you can start feeling comfortable reading a language), but it can be frustrating if it’s going slow…

      Which was your favourite Murakami?

    1. Yep that’s my problem exactly! I am an enthusiastic buyer but then I have too many other books I still have to read as well… But ah, temptation.

  2. I am loving # 3! Go and do it! Its the perfect dream! And you haven’t bought a book in 3 weeks????!! The horror! Actually that is not bad, I cant remember the last time I bought a book, trying to save money to attend a few bookish events this year! Good luck w/ your list!
    Here is my TTT

    1. I’m also trying to save money but then books are always that tiny bit more tempting 😉 But I’ll try to be strong! 😉
