And February’s gone. And I fully realise it’s been March for two days 😉
February was a short month but filled with loooong books. Out of the books I started reading I only finished two this month: Veronica Roth’s Divergent and Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca. They were complete opposites, not just the genre but also how I feel about them.
I wanted to enjoy Divergent and almost everyone I know loved it, but… I admit I was hoping for another Hunger Games ‘experience’ but nope. Complete let-down, glad I didn’t buy the whole box set after all. But I will say: despite being disappointed (and I mean 2-star-disappointed), I am looking forward to the movie. I’m convinced at least that one is going to be great!
As for Rebecca… it’s a masterpiece. I love it. It was one of my book club reads but more about that in a future post. But I’m glad I can now finally watch the movie and the musical. I swear I’ve been wanting to see and listen to that musical for years now but I didn’t want to spoil the book for myself. VICTORY, AT LAST. My world is a little more complete now.
I also started a grand total of three other books in February: Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch, Homer’s Odyssey as you know from the read-along posts, and Georgette Heyer’s The Grand Sophy which I picked up in a moment when I needed a lighter read. I just finished The Goldfinch a moment ago but hey, it’s March, so my opinion on that will have to wait (hint: ~*~feelings~*~)
