TBR-shortlist

Ah, that dreaded to-be-read mountain pile… It’s ever growing. I imposed a book buying ban on myself last year. Which I fully intended to carry on to this year. But there’s just something about the dark winter days that… well… makes me buy… a few books. *cough*

Anyway. In 2013 I participated in the TBR Pile Challenge. You can see my list here. I failed miserably and did not read a single book from the list, and only just finished Rebecca last week (a year late). That’s something, at least? The problem is that I have to be in the right mood for a book, which is why challenges with set titles rarely seem to work for me (but that’s why they’re called challenges I suppose haha).

Back to my TBR pile. I figured I need a more effective way to tackle it. Instead of forcing myself through a self-imposed list, I have created a shortlist of books on Goodreads that will be my guide. Books that I feel like reading sometime soon, a list that makes picking the next read slightly easier. This list will be ever changing and it’s very likely I will pick up books that are not on this list. But having a list like this feels good!

Here is my shortlist:

So do you have a list of books that you want to read soon? 🙂

  1. I like your list. I read The Night Circus and though it’s a thick read, it’s a page turner. I do have a stack of books that I want to read soon but I need to cull it since it’s become a mountain. 🙂 Good luck with your stack.

    1. Thank you! I’m very excited about The Night Circus, even though it’s been on my shelf for a long time now. So this list is a good way to remind me 😉
Haha I recognise that… I had more books on my list at first but then I realised it wasn’t a SHORTlist anymore 😛
